126,000 Honda Goldwing motorcycles recalled for brake problems - Consumer Reports News Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall alert for approximately 126,000 Goldwing motorcycles. The company has identified an issue with the motorbikes' secondary brake master cylinders that may cause the rear brakes to drag, increasing the risk of a collision. Riding a motorcycle with a stuck rear brake may also generate enough heat to cause a fire.

According to Honda, the brake issue affects GL1800 Goldwing motorcycles of the 2001 through 2010 and 2012 model years.

In January, the company expects to being notifying affected Goldwing owners to bring their motorcycles to Honda dealers. Mechanics there will inspect and, if necessary, replace the secondary master cylinder free of charge.

Honda said that the recall covered the 2001-10 and 2012 GL1800 models, marketed as the Gold Wing.

The Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) is pleased to announce its 31st annual Wing Ding will be in Tulsa Oklahoma,the international convention opens Thursday, July 2, and runs through Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Tulsa's Expo Square.
1. What is Wing Ding?
•Wing Ding is Gold Wing Road Riders Association’s (GWRRA’s) annual convention, get-together, party, etc. It is our once-a-year chance for our Members, and everyone else who wants to see the world’s largest Gold Wing trade show, to gather to party! The show moves to a different city every year and is held over the 4th of July holiday for four days of FUN, Food, Entertainment, Shopping, Education, Riding and Meeting old and new Friends.

2. Where did the name Wing Ding come from?
•A Wing Ding (WingDing) by definition is a party…what better way to describe our gathering of Wings? The term was coined by Co-Founder, Shirley Stephens-Garcia, just before the very first Wing Ding in 1979, at the Point Hilton Resort in Phoenix, Arizona.
•This started GWRRA’s long tradition of holding Wing Dings in convention centers or fairgrounds that have indoor, air-conditioned facilities. “This was unlike any other motorcycle organization or rally at that time,” says Founder Paul Hildebrand, and still holds true to this day.

3. Why is Wing Ding held over the 4th of July holiday?
•Wing Ding’s are currently held over the 4th of July holiday for several reasons. Many Members find this time period easier to schedule their vacations; they can tack on to the holiday, thus taking less time off to attend Wing Ding.
•Also, many vendors have found that this time period fits well in their rally circuit.
•And, this is a good time for the Association to negotiate with cities for “the business” of Wing Ding. Summer is generally a slow time for many cities; and GWRRA can get better deals for our Members on hotel rooms, entertainment, etc.

4. How does the Home Office pick the cities that host Wing Ding?
•As you can imagine, selecting a location for Wing Ding is a very complicated process. Our event management team has a very long checklist of physical qualifiers that a city must provide such as:
◦Space for the trade show, registration, etc.
◦Sufficient number of hotel rooms for our Members
◦Sufficient parking lots for the motorcycles
◦Parking lots for Rider Education courses
◦Sufficient restaurants
•Then, there are such items as:
◦Location of convention center to center of city
◦Security for Members
◦Traffic conditions
◦Condition of road (construction issues)
◦Access of major, minor roads to the city
◦Wagering rules (50/50’s, etc.)
◦Vendor issues (Can they sell motorcycles, trailers, etc.?)
◦Is the city/state motorcycle friendly?
◦Availability for entertainment venues (concerts, opening/closing ceremonies, etc

Honda has selected Garmin to be part of their tier one parts providers for GPS units to be sold on their Gold Wing motorcycles.

Known as the Honda Satellite Linked Navigation System, it provides complete North American mapping with nearly six million points of interest - places like hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, and Honda Motorcycle dealerships and service centers - displayed on a large seven-inch integrated display.

The Honda Satellite Linked Navigation System gives clear turn-by-turn voice prompted directions through the motorcycle's audio and intercom system. The system features large, easy-to-use buttons and rugged, solid-state memory for map storage.

Yamaha Tesseract concept

And now for something completely different. Yamaha has just announced that it will be bringing a bevy of new motorcycle and scooter models to the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. One of the more interesting concepts, which we'll roughly refer to as a motorcycle, is the Tesseract. Piaggio has a success on their hands in the form of the MP3, which is capable of leaning into turns despite the third wheel. Yamaha has one-upped that with its Tesseract, though, by adding yet one more whee,l bringing the total count to four. And yet, nobody would confuse this machine with a car!
Again, following Piaggio's lead with its impending hybrid MP3, Yamaha has made this concept a hybrid, boasting both a V-Twin engine of undisclosed size along with an electric motor. Yamaha claims that the machine is about the same width as a standard motorcycle, meaning lane-splitting could feasibly remain an option and parking shouldn't be too difficult. The Tesseract has also been equipped with a mechanism to keep the machine upright when stopped or when parked, once again, like the MP3. As for the styling? It's, uh... different! Imagine a Transformer half transformed and you'll be pretty darn close. And we love it!

Not so long ago we showed you an absolutely wicked 4-wheel motorcycle, the Yamaha Tesseract (hit that link if you haven't seen it, trust us). Now the design is looking to be a trend with this recent unveiling of Sbarro's Pendolauto at the Geneva Motor Show. Adding a bit of stability to the standard crotch rocket, but still lean-turning like a motorcycle, it's too bad that America will absolutely never let these vehicles on our streets. Hmm...where could they fit the airbag?

Στο πλαίσιο των προσπαθειών της να βελτιώσει την ασφάλεια όλων, κυρίως των ευάλωτων χρηστών του δρόμου, το κορυφαίο σύστημα επικοινωνίας μοτοσικλέτας με αυτοκίνητο της Honda παρουσιάστηκε για πρώτη φορά στην Ευρώπη στο CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium που πραγματοποιήθηκε στην Πίστα Δοκιμών της Opel στο Dudenhofen (Γερμανία), από 22 – 23 Οκτωβρίου, 2008.

Δεκατέσσερα χρόνια πριν,είχα την ιδέα της δημιουργίας μιας μικρής εφημερίδας για τα μέλη του Goldwing Club of Greece (Hellas).Οι πρώτες προσπάθειες γράφτηκαν στο χέρι, με κολάζ εικόνων και φωτοτυπίες,γράφτηκαν τα πρώτα νέα που αφορούσαν την Goldwing,νέα
της Λέσχης,νέα των μελών,ανακοινώσεις,αγγελίες,ανέκδοτα,τεχνικά θέματα κ.α.Με τον καιρό η εφημερίδα έγινε magazino,γραφώταν στο computer,έγινε έγχρωμη και άρεσε σε πολλούς.Νομίζω ήρθε η ώρα το magazino,να γίνει blog και να γίνετε σχολιασμός των θεμάτων απο τον καθένα.Ευπρόδεκτη κάθε συμμετοχή και κριτική.
Ολα αυτά γίνονται με αγάπη και μεράκι για την Goldwing,αλλά και για τον μοτοσυκλετι σμό.
